Effect of TOC Removal on Preoxidation Optimization
Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 06/17/2004

Document Format: PDF

Description

The objective of this study was to quantify the effects of total organic carbon (TOC)removal on preoxidation optimization comparing coagulant doses that are geared towardsturbidity removal versus those geared towards TOC removal. The measure ofperformance optimization will be the formation of disinfection byproducts (DBPs). A bench-scale jar testingapparatus with jar lids (to minimize DBP losses) was used in all experiments.Experiments for this study used two waters: a local Boulder, Colorado water source(Boulder Reservoir), and an Ohio water source (Mt. Orab). A preoxidation matrix wasperformed for each coagulant dose on both the selected waters. Includes 7 references, tables, figures.
